Phase 1

We have found a new property for our archers to be able to practice all year round in any weather. The site has been cleaned and prepped for the move. All the archery stuff has been transported and secured at the new site.

Phase 2

We have purchased wood to build four new archery stands. The stands will be 6 feet tall and will hold the field archery target blocks. These blocks will last much longer than the current targets and will be what the archers will see at competition, allowing them to practice in real simulated competition format

Phase 3

We will be putting up a Back stop behind the target to ensure that any missed arrow does not get damaged on the barn wall. The 30 foot long curtain will hang behind the targets from wall to wall.

Phase 4

We have ordered more compound bows, Field Targets, and paper targets. Once everything is installed, we will mark the ground, and the site will be ready for practice. We will announce the new practice schedule this week.

10/24 Meeting Report

The Wildcat 4-H Club held an Archery meeting on October 24, 2024 at the Fountain residence and was led by Coach Gene Lilly. We separated the age groups and had two sessions. The younger age group, which consisted of Clover kids and Juniors, had 8 members present. The older age group, which consisted of Intermediate and Seniors, had 4 members present.

During each session, Coach Gene Lilly covered:

• shooting safety

• range rules

• Bow, arrow, and verbal nomenclature

• How to safely carry arrows

• Whistle blow meanings

Each group was able to practice shooting, review terminology, and become more acquainted with the bows.

Due to time change our

archery meetings will now be held on alternating Sunday afternoons after robotics classes. Our next meeting will be November 10, 2024.
